December 21, 2016 – This week, we learned of the following announcement. Quebec’s Ministry of Forests, Wildlife and Parks (MFFP) announced that they will suspend sport hunting of caribou indefinitely starting in 2018.
We are very excited at the prospect of offering a new destination for our customers and to create an alternative to caribou hunts in Quebec.
We have been in discussions with the owner of a moose hunting lodge in Newfoundland, who also happens to be a long-time acquaintance of ours. This lodge provides the premier moose hunting experience in Newfoundland. Literally this morning, we completed discussions with Tuckamore Lodge, located on the Northern Peninsula of Newfoundland. For the record, Newfoundland has approximately 130,ooo moose on the Island and the area of highest density is the Northern Peninsula. Tuckamore Lodge offers virtually 100% hunter opportunity. Tuckamore Lodge, and it’s spike camp operation, JB Outfitters, are owned by the same family and work together to provide both moose hunts and Woodland caribou hunting. We’ve known the folks at Tuckamore Lodge for several years, and they offer a world-class hunting experience. We will be conducting another of our Hosted Adventures hunts at these lodges in the fall of 2017 and will be happy to provide all pertinent details upon request. The good news is that moose hunts on the Island are offered at substantially less cost than Quebec caribou hunts. Contact us today for further information.
