Maine Outdoor Adventures
Hunt Grouse, Woodcock and Moose or hike a majestic Maine Mountain

Lila and I are fortunate and travel often to hunting and fishing destinations all over the world. Ironically we have some of the best hunting, fishing and recreational opportunities within minutes of our home. Maine offers fabulous fall hunting for Grouse and Woodcock and thousands hit the woods every year to try their luck at a trophy Moose. There are also hundreds of great hiking adventures within a short drive of our home.

We have many nearby options for accommodations ranging from local motels to fully furnished Inns.

Upland Bird Hunting with Pointing Dogs

Spend some time with us this fall hunting Grouse and Woodcock over our pointing dogs. There is nothing like a dog on point on crisp October morning. With dozens of excellent bird covers there are days the flushes never end. Shooting fast flying birds is another issue but our dogs are very patient. Our dogs are Blackfield Pointers, a breed known for its keen nose a great hunting ability.

Maine Moose Hunts

Maine offers a fall Moose hunt by permit only. There are two seasons, one in September and the other in October. Permits are drawn in mid-summer with a permit deadline in Mid-May. Drawn applicants are assigned a season, zone and bull or cow tag.

Calling is one of the more successful ways of shooting a big bull. It is also the most exciting. The young bull to the left was called to within thirty feet of the truck. Glassing large cut-over or wetland areas is also successful. Typically Maine biologists see a 70% success ratio.

If your lucky and have been drawn for a permit, give us a call. We'd be happy to help you bag the trophy Moose you've dreamed about. If your interested in a future hunt, we'll help you with the application process.

Maine Hiking Adventures

Rounding out our Maine-based adventures is hiking. Maine boasts some of the most remote country in the eastern U.S. We have numerous mountains and sections of the Appalachian Trail nearby and love to hike with our customers. With countless day and multi-day options, hikes are adapted to our customer's physical abilities, lunches included (we'll even carry the lunches!).

  Carroll,

I still feel the excitement and get a surge of adrenaline thinking about those antlers coming toward us through the brush. Truly this was a world class hunt with memories to last a life time. The food, lodging, and accommodations were superb. Your skills as a guide and diligence to the hunt were equally impressive. Is it a skill or magic to call in a bull moose moving away from us over 2/3 of a mile away? Obviously your hard work, skill with a call and pre-hunt scouting paid off. We had an exceptional experience and I would be happy to recommend and speak with any of your future clients.
