Caribbean Fish Species

Tarpon, Bonefish, Permit and Barracuda

At some point in their lives, every serious fly-fisherman has dreamed of sight casting to huge fish on seemingly endless sand flats and crystal clear blue water. Whether you dream of catching Bonefish, Permit, Barracuda or the magnificent Tarpon, your adventure awaits.

 

This spectacular outfitter, in concert with the local government, has created a fishery that is remarkable and must be seen to be believed. Through hard work, and a determined and effective conservation effort, this fishery continues to improve and new areas are being discovered and explored.

Tarpon

Revered by many fly-fisherman as the "King" of the salwater fish, Tarpon are known for their voracious appetite and explosive aerobatics. Once a Tarpon realizes it is hooked, the reaction is nothing less than spectacular. With average fish between 40 and 80 pounds and fish in excess of 100 lbs. reguarly caught, it has to be seen to be believed.

Permit

This wonderful fish is the ultimate flats challenge and many fly fishermen have been taken to school by this wary fish. To cast to, hook, and land a permit on a fly is a true angling milestone and one that most fly fishermen who have fished the salt will eventually aspire to. It is a gift that with patience, agility, modesty, and great humility, a lucky few will be rewarded with.

Bonefish

Typically found in shallow water, this fish species can regularly be seen in schools of 4 to 20 fish. It takes atience and stealth to hook, much less land the "Ghosts of the Flats".
