Black Rapids Lodge
New
Brunswick
Atlantic Salmon
and Upland Hunting
|
Black Rapids Lodge is located in Blackville, New Brunswick, on the shores of
the world-famous Miramichi River. Your hosts, George & Jean Curtis, will provide
world-class fishing for "the King of Gamefish", the Atlantic Salmon. In
addition, Black Rapids Lodge offers what is certainly among eastern North
America's finest upland bird shooting.
The return of quality Salmon fishing to the Miramichi is one of the greatest
success stories in the annals of modem-day fly-fishing. Beginning in the early
eighties with the Govt. buy-out of the commercial net fishermen, coupled with a
catch & release policy for all fish over 25", the River enjoys Salmon runs which
exceed those of fifty years ago!
Guides, lodging and meals are provided and George & Jean enjoy a well-founded
reputation for "the best damn food on the River." Having visited Black Rapids on
several occasions, I can personally attest to that reputation. This beautiful
log lodge, elegant with a down-home atmosphere, is located within a few minutes
drive of some of the most productive pools on the River, altho' what is perhaps
the top dry-fly pool is located directly in front of your door! George and his
guides are all life-long Blackville residents and their intimate knowledge of
each pool and run is amazing. Having fished with George, I can promise you that
your heart is in your throat with every cast. Just knowing that these tremendous
fish are there is excitement personified!
Given that the entire New Brunswick Province seems to be one gigantic bird
cover, Black Rapids Lodge offers tremendous upland hunting for Grouse and
Woodcock. From mid-Sept. on, our customers enjoy what George refers to with a
smile as his "Cast & Blast Adventure." From Sept. 15 to Oct. 15 the bird hunting
and Salmon seasons overlap. Mornings & evenings are spent on the water, while
the remainder of the day is spent in the covers (some of which are huge) trying
to somehow make your shot pattern and a woodcock or partridge converge at the
same place & time! Our guests are encouraged to bring their own dogs,
(vaccinations & health certs must be shown at the Border!) or guides with
pointing dogs are available.
Lila & I are positive that you will find Black Rapids Lodge to be a world-class
experience in every respect and we are delighted to have them on the Fins & Furs
Adventures team. Please feel free to Contact Us for assistance with your visit
to Black Rapids Lodge.
